Meet your guide
Hiya, I’m Josh. An artist and owner operator of Talking Art Tours. I’ve been a practicing artist for over ten years, mainly in painting and drawing.
I started Talking Art Tours because I’m passionate about empowering people to engage in the art spaces that I get so much from. I’ve spent years getting to know the ins and outs of the Melbourne art world. From the tiny artist run spaces to the flashy commercial galleries, I’ve got my finger on the pulse so you don’t have to.
My role as your art world tour guide is to not only show you where the galleries are but also how to talk about what you’re looking at. I come with years of community arts experience that has given me the confidence to help you find the ways you think and talk about art. You will be introduced to a number of galleries and educated on their role in the Melbourne art world, be given an easy to follow art analysis guide and learn some local history. The tour routes often change to dynamically represent what is being exhibited in the city, you can come again and see something completely new!
Tours are 2.5 to 3 hours long beginning in the CBD and continuing to inner-city suburbs via a mixture of trams and walking.
In addition to leaving the tour with the confidence to talk about art you’ll also gain a suite of bespoke local recommendations and discounts. Including but not limited to: bars, restaurants, interesting shops and events you might not hear about anywhere else.
